Many established Ormond Beach homes have sprinkler systems that have been in the ground a long time.
Pipe ages, tree roots grow, and coverage that worked years ago starts leaving gaps. Residential sprinkler systems are built and cared for with home lawns in mind: front yards, back yards, flower beds, hedges and the mix of plants most homes have. UF/IFAS explains how to water a Florida lawn and why sandy soils dry out faster.
For an older system, that might mean upgrading coverage or repairing aging lines. For a newer home, it might just mean setting it up right the first time. Either way, we will tell you what we see and what we would do, with no pressure. If you are a seasonal resident, we will set the system up so it can run on its own while you are away.
Yes. Beds, shrubs and grass need different amounts of water, so they do best on separate zones. Beds often do well with drip lines or low-flow heads that put water right at the roots.
Run every zone to check for broken heads or leaks, set a schedule that fits the season you will be away, and make sure any rain or soil moisture sensor is working. It also helps to leave a neighbor or contact who can keep an eye on the yard.
Orange stains usually come from iron in well water. Aiming the heads away from walls, driveways and walkways keeps the water where it belongs. Treating the iron in the water itself is a separate service from sprinkler work.
